RE: Photography

You can pick up Canon Eos 5 bodies for peanuts now, and that will give you a body that you can rely on, and can take a kicking, for years. Add a Canon flash – 540EZ or 550 EX if you can afford them – and a decent lens (28-135 IS is superb and will cover most of what ypou want to do). Problem is, that’s around £800-1000 (new), you won’t, however, have to go and shell out twice.

And stick with film for an a level course, as you will spend most of your time doing black and white darkroom work. The exposure times for Compact Flash cards in an enlarger are scary…..

RE: Photography

I’m an A Level Photographer – I’m using a rather old Olympus OM-10 which got me through the AS course no problem. I managed to get myself an A and my potential grade according to my tutor is also an A. However, the job I am after won’t require photography (hopefully).

I reckon you (Hellaid) could do reasonably well and maybe even come away with a U – the only compliment you’ll ever get from me.

David – Thnks for that info. Keep looking round the digital stuff, but don’t check on film cameras anymore.

RE: Photography

Dan – the EOS300 has just been replaced by the EOS300V . I saw one about a week ago and it’s even better!!!! The EOS300 is a good budget camera and it produces good results ! I recommend it.

RE: Photography

How much do you want to spend?

The Canon EOS 300 is a good camera, it was about £200 when I bought one. I used it for over two years and never had a problem with it, lightweight, small and I’ve seen it recommended by a number of people.

I can give you links to examples but to be honest any digital images are more about the scanner than the camera.

Whatever camera you do choose search for the best price around the web, there can be some major price differences!

RE: Photography

I have a cannon T50

Its pretty good, and helps you learn how things work, instead of having a computer look after things…..

All the photos on the lycos site in my signature were taken with it and a combination of three lenses, I wont say anything about he quality or composition of the photo’s, but the camera itself, armed with a good lense and half decent film is quite good.

It has also got auto wind on if thats of interest.
