Photos From My Recent Holiday

Here are the photos from my recent trip to Dublin, taken in Manchester, in-flight and in Dublin.
The first one is an Air Canada 767 which was parked alongside my Aer Lingus BAe 146 as I waited to board at MAN. This aircraft held up our take off as we had to wait for it to leave before we could.

Very good photos Comet. I liked the first view of Ireland one, showing part of the wing and engines, and the lighting is good.

i’m pritty sure it can accomodate B737 and A320 size, bmi uses A320 on the LHR run. There has also been several B757 movements, but in the main by very lightly loaded government/VIP examples

What length is BHD? Is it long enough for a 737?

Maybe we should arrange another airport meet up for Dublin after the MAN meet ?

Of course 🙂 No one serves Guinness like the Irish, great stuff!!

Thanks again for all your comments, I think it’s a shame that EI are to phase out the BAe 146, I enjoyed my flights in them.

The VLM Fokker 50 was, as I said, totally unexpected as they don’t have regular services to DUB, must have been chartering for someone.

I wish I could have done better with the Herc, don’t often see them in civvy colours, the one which is regularly in BRU is military.

I can’t wait to go to DUB again, next year 🙂

Bhoy, you are correct, and I should have made mention of this when I originally posted. CO’s 762’s, unlike those of UA, AA, DL, AC, etc., were delivered new in the last 4 or 5 years (with new, 777 type interior that includes indirect lighting). In fact, Boeing re-openeded the 762 line just to fill the CO order. Therefore, it is not surprising that CO uses their 762’s across the pond as they are newer aircraft, unlike those of the other carriers which are 20+ years old. Another airline I declined to make mention of that also uses older 762’s across the pond, is USAirways. They are unique, however, in that for the longest time, those were the only long-range types they had. They are now, obviously, augmented by the A330-300’s on the European routes, which allowed a few of the 762’s to be used on domestic trunk routes.

US Airways also fly the 762 to Gatwick, in addition to the A330-300.

Nice pictures Comet…notice how you can never get away from those wings on the BAe 146. I always think great, away from the wings so I will have good views, how wrong I am!
Love the Aer Lingus photos (and of course the VLM Fokker picture 🙂 ), one of my favourite airlines. Brings back some fond memories of my last EI trip.

Andrewm, a Flybe. 737? From what I have heard they would rather go totally turbo-prop and continue operating the BAe 146. 737 doesn’t seem like Jim French talking…I would be interested to hear about if so.

GD, Continental still use the 762 for some transatlantic routes (eg EWR-GLA during Spring/Autumn (Fall if you must) although it’s a 764 during Summer and 752 during Winter.).

Moondance, BHD (aka Belfast City or Belfast Harbour Airport) has a good variety of aircraft (for a small regional airport) now and some decent spotting locations, all be it off site but accessable easily from terminal.

We get bmi, ba, flybe, air wales, aer arann, jet magic and numerous Beech King Air’s, Cessna and private jets. We also should be getting one of the Boeing 737’s that flybe are telling BHD they are buying to operate a BHD to somewhere like Barcelona service!

Nice job Comet! Excellent pics. Even though I’ve never flown on the type, you gotta’ love the Bae-146 with it’s high mounted wings that don’t obstruct the view below. You also gotta’ love a woman indulging in aviation photography. That’s almost unheard of in my parts! Nice job again Comet. I find it interesting that AC use older 767-200’s on Euro routes, as I also saw one at AMS a few days ago. I would think, like other N. American carriers, those would have been relegated to strictly domestic duty by now.

I like the ones taken from the 146’s when you see the jet engines from below!

That looks like the same livery Ren Frew, I didn’t have my binoculars with me (silly me) so I had to rely on the telephoto lens of my Viewcam to see more distant things, from my distance the livery looked like it might be a harp but I can see from your pic that it isn’t. I had no idea as to the operator and the aircraft never moved while I was there so I couldn’t get a really good look.
