PIA suspends 747 ops to Europe

I’m suprised nobody posted about this yesterday. PIA have suspended 747 operations into Europe as a result of concerns expressed by European Aviation Authorities. Services are temporarily being suspended or replaced by A310/777s.

They claim that the issues are due to cosmetic concerns rather than fundemental safety issues and as such the aircraft have not been banned from Europe. They say its to do with cleanliness of the interiors/exterior etc. Personally I think thats nonsense, they were obviously being threatened with a ban to take the action, and I’m not sure the cleanliness of the interiors would ahve been high on the authorities’ minds. Remember PIA were nearly added to the European blacklist, which would have suspended ops into the EU altogether.

Exactly, Travel City don’t even have any 747-200’s anymore, they use the 747-300s, which would not be in the air unless it had received a clean bill of health.

Exactly 🙂

Actually TravelCityDirect’s 747-300’s may seem a tad ‘worst for ware’ but when i went on it, it was in tip-top condition, very impressed! Dont Knock It Untill You’ve Tried It 😀 Im not heard anything about this, but im very intrested, as they use Manchester alot!

They should have a look at Travel City and their ‘trusty’ old 747-200, or whatever it disguises as.

Have they suspended all 747 ops, or only 747-300? If I recall correctly the 744 has been given a clean bill of health by the JAA.
