Pic Of The Day-B747

not a great pic…..but i thought i post very little of my country….let it be a bad an airline…but then its of my country :). Here is AI VT-EVA departing Heathrow. currently AI in Europe just serves London and Paris. But it is resuming services to Frankfurt from October and Chicago from November this year. Also it is planning to acquire a mixed fleet of A330/340 and B777, puting a final order by June end.

I don’t think you can mistake Kai Tak for any other airport with that spectacular approach 🙂

Aircrafts low over cities creates a great atmosphere….Kai Tak was the leader in those cases.

Beautiful!!

Is it me, or, does anyone else find pictures where aircraft are so low (with buildings in the background) eerily scary?

Beautiful but scary!

RE: Pic Of The Day-B747

Reminds me of a flight in a 727 about 20 years ago. We were sitting right over the wing, and it was flapping as if it was trying to fly like a bird. Bloody worrying to the unitiated like my friend. He crapped himself. (So did I, but I wasn’t going to admit it to him!)

RE: Pic Of The Day-B747

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-10-02 AT 08:31 AM (GMT)]If you look at the flaps and leading edge slats it looks like its on climb-out after take-off which would explain the amount of bend in the wings, still probably unsettling to look at from a window seat though.

Regards, Dazza.

RE: Pic Of The Day-B747

true…the second one looks horrible…its barely a scheme. When AI put that the public was quite angry that they changed the scheme.

RE: Pic Of The Day-B747

Kabir, I agree with you mainly! It looks a bit like the Taj Mahal kind theme in the first one but second one just looks too plain! I dont overly like both and I think that the one in the link would actually suit best!!

RE: Pic Of The Day-B747

You can say thats the only thing people like in the Air India livery…it is quoted as the ‘Flying palace’ so it gives that effect. But they did change there livery…see this pic….CRAP i would say. I dont object to the current livery, its not bad but still they need a facelift badly. This livery has been there since the 1960s when the govt. took over Air india from the Tata group here.

RE: Pic Of The Day-B747

Nice aircraft…

The one thing I don’t like about the current Air India livery is the red frames around each window. I understand if these weren’t here it would look “white”, but it looks a bit crammed on for my liking…

but it’s a nice pic anyway!
