Well, it is a sprayer, not a firefighter. No DC-6es are operational in the USA as firefighter or sprayers (but DC4 and DC7 are). Most probably this is a Dc6 of Conair, based in Canada. Shot was taken in New Zealand in 1996. It is C-GHFB (I think).

I have seen this plane in action over brushfires in Los Angeles County California as recently as two or three years ago.
As we get more than our fair share of brushfires here in California, we get some interesting firefighting aircraft. 412’s, Skycrane’s and Canair Super Scoopers are the most common locally. P-3’s, C130’s and C-2’s are also seen in the Western US.
Does anyone have a collection of fire fighting aircraft to share?
