Varig are preparing to dispose of their MD-11s replacing them with B777s are they not?
I agree….England’s a’c is a bit pants but, i also agree that the pitch is where the business must happen.

The only place England needs to show off, is on the soccer field. I read in the newspaper yesterday, during their stopover in Dubai en route to the World Cup, the British soccer team and their entourage (totalling roughly 120) ran up a hotel bill of roughly $54,000 U.S.! That’s a lot of drinking!

Concorde would cost loads, but then again, these are expensive people we’re talking about, each is worth millions and millions of £/$/€ (delete as applicable).

I think calling it “Boring” would be a compliment! I think not only the design is a bit lame, but the aircraft is also not the best choice. Understandably, they’ve got to use something big which could cope with the range, but BA have 7 Concordes and these would look brilliant, make us really stand out!

You can pretty much count on LAX as the stopover. Varig usually has 2 dailies to LAX from Sao Paolo, one of which continues on to Tokyo, so, that would seem logical. I don’t know what their schedule has been like since 9/11, however. They might have even gone to 1 daily frequency. Either way, It it surprising they don’t use the MD11 as you mentioned, since that is the aircraft they use on the LAX/NRT run. Before the MD11, it was a 747-300.

Great picture and great aircraft. It’s certainly a great livery and can be understood even if you’re not Brazilian, unlike the England one which requires a good knowledge of our language as it’s all text and no pictures!
