Mine is soft as a lamb too, of course that excludes the fact that he is used to partake in what is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous sports going (Eventing). Add to that my partner has a lovely (permenant) hoof print scare between arm and shoulder as a reminder that occasionally he lashes out, but in his defence he was excited, not naughty (the horse I mean!).

The main danger to people from mine is drowning from being licked to death 🙂

Sounds like mine, he would love you to death! but as he’s only 8 months old he still plays with his teeth, which can get pretty annoying when he nibbles you while you are on the phone! He is also getting pretty big and still greets you with an affectionate leap, his paws nearly reach my shoulders and soon he’ll be able to look me in the eye when he does it! (or just knock me to the floor!)

Well, if they’re getting cyotes, then that’s ok.

I get nervous around bigdogs that show aggressive tendancies. Not
nervous around them , actually, but knowing they’re there. I’d actually be
more nervous around a 50% wolf than a 90% wolf – from what I’ve heard,
they’re more “consistent”. Wolf genetics are pretty solid, dog genetics are
wolf genetics inbred for thousands of years. The WORST animals are
fighting dogs, pitbulls, etc. that have been bred from instable lines. Extra
points if they were raised to fight.

It’s not just how dogs are raised. You can take a good dog and raise it to
be bad, but ther’es little you can do to make a really badly bred dog
“safe”. I’ve seen some pit bulls raised with loving care from puppies, then
turn around and kill a bunch of cats they were raised with, or snap at their
owner. My uncle had one that they had to literally chain to the house’s
foundation to keep it from hurting someone.
Most pit bulls are pretty good, friendly dogs. Sad thing is that many many
of them are irresponsibly bred. The breeders breed for aggressive
tendancies and bad dispositions. These little puppies are responsible for a
lot of bad press about pits.

I’v epet wolves, and as long as you act a certain way, they’re cool with
you. I’ve pet pit bulls and other breeds that were ok one minute, then
they’de just change their mind and bite. Wolves have natural instincts,
dogs can have a very confused set of instincts.

The reason they got out yesterday was because after I was rear ended & ragdolled off my bike & across 4 lanes of LA freeway at the weekend it took damn near 15 minutes to walk 60ft to their cage.

The goat escaped from the neighbours yard & walked into MY back yard…

The rabbit was free range, no cages & my pups are fine around kids, they visit the school across the street all the time (on leashes).. & it now appears that my pups went into the neighbors yard to take down a Coyote, I missed that part of the fun, neighbor found the Coyote this morning. Not so bad afterall 🙂

Doesn’t always have to be a BIG cat. Back when I was a kid we had a female cat that wasn’t real big but she was pretty mean when she wanted to be. Well one day I walk out back and she’s sitting on top of our wood fence with a big. . .something in her mouth. I walk over and look (fence is about five and a half feet tall) and she’s got a rabbit about the size of a size 9 shoe in her mouth! I’m sitting there wondering where the hell she got it. You’d have thought she’d brought down a zebra the way she fought to keep me from taking it from her. About a week later a little kid from around the corner knocks on my door and asks if I’ve seen any of his bunnies. Seems he got some for Easter and they’d had them fenced in in his back yard and now they’re all gone. “Bunnies? Uh. . .nope haven’t seen any.” 😮

I have no problem with keeping exotic/dangerous animals as long as they are kept responsibly, a concept ZRX61 has obviously yet to grasp. As Pluto rays, the irresponsibility of the mindless minority ruins the situation for everyone else.

Crawled under a fence? Shouldn’t they be better contained? That’s the
kind of thing that gets ingorant people pissed off about exotic animals.

I have no problem with people owning wolves, hybrids, even lions and
tigers (which a few people in our county DO own), but they need to be
contained, even if only for their protection.

Some of our neighbors are a little too lax with with their dogs. Big dogs,
they let them run loose to crap in the neighborhood. If they were to attack
my dog, let alone threaten my family, they’d get at least one, I’ll kill them
on the spot. Nevermind wolves, which have a higher prey-drive than the
average large dog.

Be careful with those suckers, if you **** off your neighbors with them,
you’ll be helping the a$$holes in Peta or the humane Society get them
banned.

We had a guy in Raleigh a few years back. Had a tiger in his backyard.
this guy had no training, no intelligence, and ruined it for the rest of us. It –
unexpectedly – got very large and aggressive ( I know, who’d have
thought?), so he kept it chained up in his backyard, in a small enclosure.
Well, when his little kid got too close, and was killed, he blew it away.
this, expectedly, got the attention of prety much everybody, and now “big
cats” are no longer legal in Wake county. It’s also helped start Bill 1032,
which proposed to ban anything considered “inherently dangerous” , which
includes tigers, bears, wolves, caracals and servals(which we had), and
any snake that is venomous or can exceed 7 feet. It took a lot of bitching
and moaning to stop this bill, and it still might resurface.

They took down a goat? That’s scary… funny in a way, but scary.
Did they have to tear through a rabbit cage to get at the bunny?
determined suckers.

Mine impressed the neighbours this morning.. they got under the fence & ate their rabbit…. So now I owe em a new rabbit…

still, not as bad as when the previous neighbours lived there.. they lost a goat one morning…

Which, in the gun toting culture you cherish would be grounds enough for me to blow the bloody thing’s heads off. Never mind, it was only a rabbit

I know, they would never do it to achild, they’re quite content with killing rabbits and goats on other people’s property. Bless ’em, they will have their fun.

So which is he? Pure wolf I’m not overly concerned about, having sat with one and rubbed its tummy (aw); its the hybrids that are supposed to be the aggressive dangerous ones. In fact they’re illegal in quite a lot of places as I understand it. Whatever the case, he’s beautiful!

He’s about 95% Wolf, the other bit seems to consist entirely of Malamute growth genes… hence his size

He’s a big softy, unless you look like lunch or try to feed him raw meat. Any other food he’l just nibble from your fingers, raw meat brings out the wild side so it’s best to throw it to him if you want to keep all your fingers.. or both hands.. His sister is the same way.
If ya hold a biscuit in your hand they will run past flat out & take it barely touching your skin….
They howl at fire trucks etc …. & have taught every dog in the neighbourhood to howl.. including the 3 dobermans just up the street, the owner isn’t too happy about it for some reason…

Oh god! Yes, she will. And we’ll be doing the flight line walk as well, so if you’re on R4118 duty, you’ll see us. In fact, we stopped and spoke to Met24 at the VE show, were you there then? If so, you’ve met her already.

You say one word to her about that comment, and you’re toast sonny… 😉
