[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-10-02 AT 04:20 AM (GMT)]Thanks to Michelle for the inspiration and to Bob for leading me to Pbase. I thought I would share some pics from my personal collection with the Flypast board as I certainly enjoy seeing your pics from around the world. I’m no professional so please allow some leeway for my inexperience with a camera. I’ll start off with a few P-38s. The first is the TFC machine while it was undergoing flight tests at Chino airport.

Here’s a shot of the Yankee Air Force photo nose Lightning on outside display, also at Chino.

Bob Pond’s bird of course.

Finally, the converted P-38M in the Champlin Fighter Museum located in Mesa, Arizona.

RE: Pics to share
Thanks for the update Doughnut. I remember seeing an article on the bird in one of the mags when it was flying with Hansen. Too bad it’s no longer airworthy. Can’t be many of them about, especially in the USA. Regards, Chad.

RE: Pics to share
Hi Chad,
Nice Meatbox. You may be interested to know the full story.
Meteor NF11 WD592 was purchased from the Royal Navy in 1975 by Al Letcher, registered as N94749 it was flown to the USA by the ‘infamous’ Jeff Hawke. In 1988 the aircraft passed to Al Hanson, who returned the Meteor to the air, however by 1993 the aircraft was once again grounded and it is currently an exhibit at Edwards AFB Museum. The attached photo was taken at Edwards AFB on 22/10/93,
Hope this works !
Regards DOUGHNUT

RE: Pics to share
Thanks for the Pbase info Bob. I was wondering if that were the case. I guess I should have read the fine print! Regards, Chad.

RE: Pics to share
Chad,
If you’re trying to link the pics on Pbase direct you can’t until you become a “Supporter”.
“Direct linking to an image for use on another website, forums, or message board
Due to bandwidth costs, this requires you to have paid for the pbase service.”
You can upload the images direct to the this forums server. They have to be no bigger than 100kb in size. To attach a picture click on “Click here to choose your file” below the text box of your message, then locate the file/s on your computer then upload them. (Sorry if you know all this :))
Glad to have helped a little bit!!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-10-02 AT 04:31 AM (GMT)]Here’s a Meteor at Mojave, California probably 20 years ago. I’m trying to recall the owner’s name and Al Letcher keeps coming to mind but that may not be it. Al Hansen maybe? I’m sure somebody on the board knows.

Please inform me on how to code these to appear on the board if possible. The usual img tags are not working for me.
