Hi all,
I understand that Peter Monks’ Spitfire Mk.IX, TA805 (G-PMNF) is nearing completion at Aircraft Restoration Company at Duxford. Can anyone provide me with a recent picture which I can use in my private “Airworthy Spitfire register”?

Hi Mark12
AndyG,
Just enough to make the provenance ‘thin but robust’.
Mark
So I assume that your notebook was incorporated in the rebuild or at least the page with the serial Number LOL !!!

What he said – she’s a beautiful piece of work, and a credit to all involved.

Could I just point out that, Yes, ARCO have done a good job, but there were many others involved in the re-build/restoration/replication of TA805! The ‘Patio Piece’ has had quite a few folks working on it long before It ever arrived on the hallowed ground of Duxford!
Well done EVERYONE involved in the work.
The main thing is that there is another Spitfire in the blue (??) sky above England.Cheers all……………….
Ah – someone from Airframe Assemblies in our midst? Welcome Rivet!
Quite true about there being many others involved, well done to all.

Hey, that looks like a familiar shot 😉 I bet the photographer was standing on a fuel bowser or a tractor :p I’ts a real shame none of the Duxford photo mafia were there today….It was very lonely standing on the Tank bank as it hurtled off the grass runway straight towards my zoom lens, oh and did I mention that the sun was shining nicely! I’d post up some pictures but I’m still on the “old” technology, you remember that stuff called film! Yep it sure did look nice in the air at last. A nice authentic colour scheme if I’m not mistaken, 234Sqn at RAF Bentwaters 1945 I believe. 😀
Film……. Cant beat 🙂 it its all i ever use :p i dont like all this auto point and click ‘you cant bend it’ cameras, im sure its all very good but i cant get on with it! 😮 Technophobe!

That was a long walk!
That’s why I took my car up the far end! That and the need to get back to “Area 51” to get the shots of it landing back and taxiing in. The aircraft will probably be doing some more test flying next week dependent on the weather. 🙂

Had she flown that day it would have been very poignant as only a few hours earlier news had broken of Ray Hannah’s passing.
I had similar thoughts earlier….

Frame 5 is just bent there is no oil tank just the fuel tank, so not a Griffon frame 5

Peter Monk’s Spitfire
Am I missing something here. The wreckage photo at the beginning of this thread has what appears to me the firewall for a Griffon engine with the forward slant of the firewall above frame 5. Yet Peter’s is a MkIX I believe?

How is that for timing?
Just happened to be passing Duxford at bang on mid-day, Newport Pagnell to Colchester by direct route, and caught the final pass and steep bank for the landing circuit as I drove by.
Congrats to all at ARCo and to Airframe Assemblies who did all the sheet metal.

Congrats to all at ARCo. The wait has been worth it. A fantastic restoration.
Here she is following ground runs a couple of days ago.
