Picture of yourself

Well, I know, not a very original topic, but finally I managed to install a scanner. Here’s a pic of me taken a couple of days ago, and yes, I was drinking a beer (which I diserved).

Well Phantom, actually these shirts are the latest fashion here in Europe. Probably within 20 years I will have to laugh with it, but at least I can say I grew up with it! Actually my girlfried bought it for me … no I’m lying … it was my mother 😉

Believe me I wouldn’t dare to wear this kind of shirts on a formal meeting. Sometimes it’s just fun to look at bit … well … stupid.

Now a picture of you Cooper!

Geforce I must say that is quite an…..well, interesting…shirt you have on there. 🙂

No insult intended though.

On a side note, the pub/cafe thing is the same here in the States as it is in England.

Interesting how words get changed around.

Here’s me talking to a couple of veterans at the dedication of a Memorial to Sgt Johnny Wiseman and Flt Sgt Alan Haddon, Typhoon pilots with 609 Squadron who were killed in action on St. Valentine’s Day, 1943.

I’m the one on the crutches.

I’ll stand corrected:D
In England a “pub” or “bar” is a place which serves alcohol, a “cafe” is somewhere which does not (usually), but concentrates on hot drinks, soft drinks and little snacks.

True, I wouldn’t drink Duvel out of a Stella glass either. It’s just … wrong, barbaric even. In fact, you’re not only paying for the beer, but also for the glass. If you ask the bartender, you can take it home.

Also, you should make a distinction between a “pub” and a “café” in Belgium. Pubs is what you can find in big cities, it’s a place where mostly youngsters, students or artists (in other means, the non working class to quote Marx:)) join together to discuss latest events and drink expensive foreign beer, latin-american wine and other non-Belgian drinks. It’s more of an artsie-fartsie thing.
In rural areas, you can find the real cafes, this is a place where people from all classes and ages join together and discuss their working week drinking pints.

So always ask for a cafe if you want to meet some real Belgians. The pubs are full of those high-horse intellectuals.

I can’t resist seeing what people are drinking when I’m in a Belgian pub, I’ve developed quite an “eye” for the different glasses!!:)

The beer is just regular Stella. But it’s in a wrong glass, cause this pic is taken at the back of my house and not in a pub.

This is the best golden beer in Belgium – bar none!!! Sloeber – taken in its home town of Oudenaarde, 5th September 2002. Outside a cafe on the market square.

Is that beer Lucifer? I was looking at the thick base of the glass, Lucifer has a glass like that.

No wonder the Yanks are such crap drivers, not only do their cars have steering wheels on the wrong sides, but they’re always drilling…. 😀

Anyway, here’s me after soloing a PA28 at Cambridge last Saturday… And before anyone honks about the hi-vis jacket, we’ve gotta wear ’em, okay? 😉

But you really should concentrate on driving more than picking the craters in your nose. :D:p
