Danohagan
Very very nice looking pictures. I really like that first Harvard shot. An uncle of mine used to fly one way back when. Thats the kind of shot I would pay you for a copy.
Would make a great gift. Do you have a website that sells them like the others?

Dan
If these were taken with the S5000 then they are a superb effort, congratulations (if not they are still excellent shots). Dont worry too much about getting used to Photoshop, there are many tutorials out there about how to get the most of it. In any case most “happy snapper” shops apply a degree of touch up to their prints, its just that with PS one can do it on an individual basis.
There is, as Damien said not much that can be done with a bad image to start with. In any case I’m fairly sure that 99.99% of images posted in the daily press or national magazines have had some sort of treatment in PS. Although I wouldnt go as far as Flypast did a few years ago and produce a whole article on how they changed an image.
Anyway can we see more please.

Something that I could tell the girlfriend cost a lot less than it actually did! 😉

Thank you. Already wishing for something with a bit more poke than the S5000!
Canon D1 MkII and a Canon 100-400IS lens perhaps ?

Why the sneer?
Was it/is it a sneer? I was being more sarcastic than anything else.
Personally I feel that there is too much of a reliance by photographers on image editing tools to get the “perfect” and “professional” looking pictures nowadays.
Don’t get me wrong, I use image editing software myself but try to stay away from it as much as I can because I feel that showing the original image says more about the photographer (composition, lighting etc.) rather than showing that they are competant at “editing” their images.
Just my own opinion though.

No offence taken Damien. Considering I’ve only been taking photos for around four weeks (Old Buck was the second airshow I’ve taken the camera to), and I’m still getting used to Photoshop, I think I’m learning pretty quickly! And, the pictures I posted here were to share the show with others, not to be considered good, bad or indifferent!!! 😎

Not really local, but not too far – probably about 2 hrs away.

Generally it’s around the end of June each year, as for whether the Mustangs attend the fly in’s I can’t promise it all depends on what else is going on at the time, having said that you can from time to time see a Mustang at Old Buck, one lives locally and the owner of the other tends to pop up from time to time. I’ll try to give some notice if I find out in time in the future, are you local to the area Monkey?
By: Monkey - 1st July 2004 at 14:37
Thanks Yak 11 Fan – is it the same sort of date every year or does it change?
Will the Mustang(s) be at the fly-in?
By: Yak 11 Fan - 1st July 2004 at 14:21
The Old Buck show is an annual event although they do have the odd fly in from time to time.

Nice pics danohagan.
Looks like a grand day out.
Any further shows in the future?

Yak fan, I suppose I was trying to be kind to the photographer, who seems to have one leg shorter than the other.
Well I suppose dan needs to learn how to use Photoshop like the “professional” photographers around here do
Nice pics by the way. Were these taken with your S5000? I can’t seem to get good prop blur on mine without the pictures coming out knackered.

What a charming creature you are “Fumbles” – and so creative with your username.

Old Buck is near to Attleborough in Norfolk

Very nice pictures. Forgive my ignorance but where is this airfield ?
By: Yak 11 Fan - 1st July 2004 at 08:41
I’m not sure exactly what the slope is, can’t find it published anywhere, however the other factor is that there is a large haystack at the end of the runway which is already very short. On this landing seeing as there was another Mustang and a Yak 11 very close behind Maurice was using the brakes so as to get off and stopped at the within around 500m at the taxyway to the parking area hence why the tail was up at one point. An interesting experience but no great problem. Janie has been in and out of Old Buck on many occasions over the last few years.
