On my warbirds 365-day calendar, today’s kite is the good ol’ P-40. The photo shows two – an RAF-marked one with the codes GM-D, and a USAAF-marked one… in PINK!!
No, I am not seeing things, it is pink!
Wasn’t there one flown around in this colour scheme before??

A pink T-34 tank in London. Great. That is a real honour to all the Soviet tank crews who fought and died in this machine…
Surely there are better uses for this piece of history?

The picture of the P-40 hanging in the lobby of the museum is very sad. I remember it in the air. The link has 2 pitures I took in 1988 at an airshow in Schenetady New York. I was told that the sand color paint used in North Africa faded to a pinkish color, but not THAT pink.

It may take a few minutes for the site to update.

Hum, no.
But I saw a T-34 on telly the other night, they were talking about Ukraine and there’s this T-34, all sparkling with frontovicks soldiers riding shotgun on it doing a parade somewhere in Ukraine.

She also had a pink T-34 with the same markings.
This pink T-34? 😀

Yeap, the wee planes are pedal powered toys for kiddies.
I saw a P-51 the other day, it looks quite fun! I wish I was young again!!

She also had a pink T-34 with the same markings. Is the Beech (I said Beech, mind you!) still flying?
😉 😉

I have a FlyPast or that other magazine with an interesting article on this aircraft. IIRC it alleges that (aside from the owner liking pink) the colour-scheme is/was that of some USAAF desert camo that when exposed to sunlight over a period of time tended towards pink. I kid you not – but I also think significant liberties may have been taken. Very nice aircraft for all that.
