piper L4-J 44-80464

As part-owner of Piper L4-J 44-80464 c/n 12760, I’m trying to find her previous history. I wrote to the AFHRA/RS and get a copy of her Individual Movement Record Card.

Delivered to the USAF on 4 October 1944. To Elmira NY for shipment to Europe.
Dec 44: US Army Ground Forces, European Theatre of Operations.
Dec 46: transferred from US Army Ground Forces, as excess.
June 47: disposed as surplus by transfer to Denmark.

Registred in Belgium as OO-GEK, to Congo as 9Q-CEK, back in Belgium as OO-CEK.

According to Ken WAKEFIELD “The Other Ninth Air Force”, she was not used by 9th AF. Door closed.

Can anybody help me to find her USAF history?

Is K. Wakefied on this post? Otherwise, how can I contact him?

Any help much appreciated

I am also trying to ascertain if my L4A 42-38455 had any markings other than the serial number on the tail. It spent all of its life in Hawaii so may not have had any unit markings or individual lettering. It has been continually airworthy since my test flight (after rebuild ) on March 3rd 1994 and despite lots of research I have not been able to “personalise ” it. I have all the history from the Movements card and the FAA records but so far it is a “blank canvas”
