I’ve just picked up an ashtray made from a piston and was wondering if anybody could tell me if it’s from an aircraft engine.
It has the following stamps on the top
D7
VPBH/81
STD
I’ll try and add a photo when I get a chance if it will help.
Any information or suggestions would be great.

My first thought was commercial vehicle too.
It is old though, there’s no central spike for the flame front and no indication of multi-hole injectors.

Thanks for posting the photograph; unfortunately it is almost certainly not an aircraft piston.
It is a piston from a diesel engine (with two valves per cylinder) but further than that I couldn’t really say.

A photograph would be most useful.
The only thing I can say from the details is that it is a ‘standard’ size (STD) and not an oversize piston but that is a common stamp on many pistons. What diameter is it?
