>> Piston Engine Quiz <<

Guessing aircraft is quite nice, but guessing engines is even better!
Perhaps you even know at least one aircraft utilizing each one of them?

@4 — is a Liberty 12-A, lots of applications

@5 — Junkers Jumo 205 is correct, built from 1933 on; used on FW A17, Ju52, Ju86, Do18, Do26, BV139

#2 is still not completely correct, but quite close. It is a Gnôme et Rhône 18L (not 18R) “Mistral Major” from 1936, the world’s only single-row 18 cylinder radial, never gone beyond prototype

@1 — It is indeed a RR Eagle 22 from 1947! The last RR piston aero-engine, only used in some Westland Wyvern torpedofighters.

link to a guy who built that engine on a 5:1 scale. Incredible!

@3 — Yes, a Wright R-1820 “Cyclone” from 1931, don’t know if it’s a “-9”

@6 — A DB606, two coupled DB601, from 1936. Used in He119 and He177.

The other answers are not correct.

O’course it’s allowed. Only thing happens is, the quiz will get more obscure next time and real stranglets will appear in case I sense it was too easy. 😎
