Piston Post

Anyone know why a Piston Provost went chugging over me about 5.30 this evening.
Just north of Abingdon at about 1000 ft and heading due south west.
Unless the sun was playing tricks she looked to have some orange/ dayglo markings ?
Could not see any numbers/markings /reg.

Stringbag,
I assume you meant that ‘Shuttleworths’ PP was aquired from Kennet ?

Shuttleworth’s PP was acquired from Kennet Aviation a few years ago. It was in use with Rolls Royce Technical College for a number of years.

The Brimpton Provosts are not connected to the Bradshaw example, athough that one (G-AWPH from memory ) is based very close, at a strip on the southern edge of Reading, by the M4 junction.

It is / was a racy back and red colour scheme. It may not have flown for a while as I believe J.B has been pre-occupied with his Kemble-based Sea Fury.

Thanks Propstrike,
Now then, are either of these the ex John Bradshaw machines or are those separate, if so whats happened to those? or was one of those the one that Shuttleworth aquired ?

Philo,

Most likely one of Alan House’s. He has two airworthy examples on the strip at Brimpton, next to Aldermaston, about 10 mins flying time from where you spotted it.
