Piston Provost Parts

Having gathered over the years a pile of Provost parts without being fortunate enough to obtain a suitable airframe, and in an effort to clear a little space in the store, the “Provost pile” is looking for a new home. If anyone has a need for a pile of NOS hoses, gear leg fairings, oil cooler mounts, switch boxes etc, etc then drop me a PM. It would be nice to see this stuff go towards rebuilding an example.

I hope this doesn’t break any forum rules to a great extent. Trying to get the parts to a home where they’ll be put to use.

The Shuttleworth Collection, a Charitable Trust, operate a Provost. We rely heavily on donations, including parts, to keep our machines flying.
I am certain our engineers would be very pleased to receive what you have and have passed the information on.
If we can use them I guarantee a ride in my Storch!

I made my own landing light lenses. You need a good vacuum and a lot of heat.

Bill T, Wokka Bob, re wing tip lenses. We have found a local chap who is keen on making lenses to finish our Piston Provost.

Thanks

Hi

I have only just got back from a holiday, so am a little late picking up on this, Max and I are looking for cockpit items, so if you thinkyou might have anything of use to us, please drop me a P.M.

Ritch

Well I did email you with a photo on the 17th June regarding some rudder pedals – and as yet you haven’t replied!

John Hill,

Look no further than Las Vegas USA. Captain Bombay (of this forum) reversed engineered the wing tip covers for WW 397 which I had the unfortunate privilege of rebuilding in the late 70’s/early 80’s.

At least one of the Halton, Provost T1 instructional airframes – 7622M (WV606) made it into a museum during the 1971 disposal; it was purchased for £150 and is proudly displayed in Hangar 1 here!

Hi John,
That is an extremely nice static restoration. Can you post another pic. of a closer view of the lenses you need, give us an idea which type it is and measurements. I’ve a new clear lense cover ex SeaHawk that might be the same. Certainly same era.

This thread is interesting and glad to see folks are remembering the Piston provost. My Very Basic Airframe Training rigging/building/dismantling at RAF Halton back in 58 was on these very aircraft that were used for that purpose. I know that they all vanished within a few years, but what happened to them, I know not.

…the only bits we are missing are lenses for the wingtip lights.

John Hoole (aka The Hooligan) is looking for PP parts. I’ve sent him a heads-up so he should be in touch soon, Chippie51. I will PM you his phone number.
