Bonjour to All,
I am trying to find more information on a Pitts S-2a G-BADW in Lancastrian color. The note in the back read Aug 15, 1987 / Barton
Does anyone recognize the pilot in the photo? Does anyone have more info on the Lancastrain sponsorship ?
THANK YOU
Francois

Dai still examines at Perth and has an office in the Aero Club building there. If you phone the Aero Club or Leading Edge Flight Training they should hopefuly pass on either his office or home number. He’s around most days. I think his Pitts is in for its annual just now so you’ll probably find him pottering around the hangar.
And the UK Aircraft Register does link G-BYIB Pitts S-2A to DAVID PATRICK HEATHER-HAYES To close the loop…..
Does anyone has Mr Heather-Hayes e-mail or the Aeroclub web site…so I don’t end up in Australia !
Merci
Francois

‘DW.
Good. Is it still Bob’s..? I think he has a bit of a backlog for rebuilds…!:)

‘DW is an old Rothmans ‘2A. Bob Mitchell was using it for instruction in a green & white scheme in the late ’80’s/early ’90’s, based at Coventry. It’s been in long-term storage, pending rebuild for a long time.
Currently under active reuild, and has been for a while ๐

thought it was a Jag dealership as well. Just spent 10 mins searching programmes from the 1980’s but nothing, which surprised me

I don’t think it’s Bob Mitchell, but I do think its a younger Dai Heather-Hayes who did fly these aircraft.
He’s still an examiner at Perth

And he doesn’t live in Lancashire! ๐
But he does still own it ๐

According to `G-INFO` ,it was owned by Bob Mitchell…

I have half a memory that Lancastrian were a Jaguar dealership but half-an-hour’s Googling has failed to confirm that. Or provide any other pointers for that matter.

Could be Mike Findlay?
This guess is only based on a picture in a Rothmans Team brochure.
No info on the sponsorship.
