PLA aircraft official nicknames

Except the FC-1 Xiao Long2, AKA JF-17 Thunder, the PLA don’t seem to officially nickname their military aircraft.

In 2004, a Chinese (China) TV series titled “Chang2 Kong4 Zhu4 Jian4”, literally “Long sky forge sword”, with 22 episodes, was about the 107th Division, PLAAF, and AFAIK from the credits, was filmed in the Guang Zhou military district in southern China.

This division flies the J-11/Su-27SK, which in the TV series, is nicknamed “Lan2 Sha”, literally “Blue Shark”, but this unofficial nickname doesn’t seem to spread or stick.

Don’t know about the North and South Koreans, but the Japanese don’t seem to officially nickname their military aircraft either, or just adopt the official US nicknames.

BTW, there was another recent Chinese (China) TV series titled “D.A. Shi”, literally “D.A. Division”, but AFAIK it’s about amphibious APCs and paratroopers.
