Thanks for the CDF and Rick Kamer for the information. I wish to add some of my insights too.
One PLAAF Air Regiment consists of anywhere between 20 to 40 planes.
J-11 = Chinese licensed manufactured SU-27. It must be noted that all SU-27s made in China have a serial starting with “01”, duplicating the numbers in parallel with those of Russian made SU-27s and SU-30s. Thus for example, you can have an SU-27 with a bort number of 06 that is Russian made and in another base, a J-11 also with a bort number of 06.
1st Division, Shenyang MR —- One regiment. J-11s. All single seater. Probably between 30 to 40 aircraft. CCTV presented a video that showed this formation. One tail had 32 or 37 number on it. Planes with numbers 06, 10, and 17 were also seen.
Note that these planes are assigned to the same region of the factory that built them in Shenyang.
2nd Division, Guangzhou MR — One regiment. Russian made SU-27s, mix of SKs and UBKs. Between 20 to 30 aircraft. One of the older SU-27 formations.
3rd Division, Nanjing MR — One regiment. SU-30MKK. Probably around 20 aircraft. Probably the first SU-30 formation in China.
7th Division, Beijing MR — One regiment of J-11s. Maybe 30-40 aircraft. Beijing isn’t far away from Shenyang. The presence of a second regiment of J-11s suggest that the numbers of these planes are higher than previously suggested, perhaps between 60-80 now.
18th Division, Guangzhou MR —- One regiment. Probably anywhere between 20-30 aircraft. The newest SU-30 formation. The appearance of this formation suggests that deliveries of the second order may have been recently completed, that all 76 (80?) SU-30MKKs the PLAAF ordered may already have been delivered.
19th Division, Jinan MR — One regiment of SU-27s. Russian made, a mix of SKs and UBKs. Probably 20-30 aircraft.
29th Division, Nanjing MR — One regiment of SU-30MKKs. Probably 20-30 aircraft. This was upgraded last year.
33rd Division, Chengdu MR — One regiment of SU-27s. Unusual because they comprise all of the 28 SU-27UBKs of the last order from Irkut factory. It does not appear that this regiment will be supplemented by J-11s, and this group appears to be a training group only for the J-11 formations.
Flight Test Center, Beijing MR — Used for testing, development and tactical training. Used to be a number of SU-30MKKs were placed here, with bort 21 to 38. This apparently have been redeployed to other formations. Instead, a group of J-11s have taken their place.
