With IN slated to get nuke subs in the not to distant future which country do you think will have the better navy 10 years down the line – the Indian’s or the Chinese. Discuss! :diablo:

Ah yes so China is just so much more worthy than India. Its got nothing to do with the Chinese leadership having the luxury of not having to convince the electorate to give them their jobs again every few years or having to deal with the media doing exposes on this failed project or that kickbacks scandal. This is painfully childish. Could we forget the aimless point scoring and direct discussions into areas other than those that allow respective nationalists to get their rocks off. Some members were already trying to stop things and salvage something from this thread that was admitedly doomed as soon as the first poster cut loose on his keyboard. But no you just had dip back in for the last word.
Daniel
first…I not trying to pick a fight here.
But Daniel you have to keep in mind that the PRC government is elected. The people’s congress is elected and so are many other important positions with the government including the premiere. Now if you want to comment that these elections are phony or rigged than that’s your opinion on Chinese politics. To some degree I agree with you but going so far as to say the government can actually cover up their failures is just simply your lack of knowledge of Chinese matters. Once a mojor screw up happens the media going to jump on it just like anywhere else. After that there maybe hell to pay for some people.
Looking upon current events the most striking catastrophes that have been reported by Chinese media are the chemical plant blow up in Jiling and the coal mine collapse resulting in the resignations and quite possibly criminal charges on many top level officials. Even in the three gorges dam project the media reported on forced relocation of local residents and the withholding of compensation funds.
The question you have to ask your self is where’s the cover up?

LOL anothr copy from of russia yak 44 😉 dont very just do it no body lookin at u :0
Do you know what a rumour is?
As of now there is no evidence that such a project ever existed. Not even semi mockups or even paper designs.
If a VTOL designed is copied or studied it is definately the Harrier and not the Yak. There was almost a sale of harriers to China in the 80s, so PLAAF or the PLANAF was very interested in the plane.

I was just reading a piece that says that China’s carrier air wing maybe further ahead than originally thought! Thought they don’t know what planes will eventually serve on the carriers, there is a seculation that they have a plane that is a combination between the S-3 Viking and the failed Yak 44 for the AEW role.
Speculation still surrounds the type of fighter that will be used but more and more people are leaning towards the Su-33 in which Chinese officials have had a keen interest in for some time!
As for who will have the better force projection in a decade, that’s simple, you khave to just look at what is in service now and what is being built now. India can’t get itself organised and would rather squabble over prices of equipment from other countires. China just gets in there and builds things, most of which they produce the parts for anyway, so the answer already lays with China
Sadly I agree tghat this is a pointless thread and that you are only fishing for a fight, stop it please

The IN has 27 under construction and 32 to be ordered. Thats not a small number. Once they have their force levels taken care of the expansion will start. The Indian government has at long last realised the importance and strategic value of a strong navy. The IN is no more the poor cousin of the armed forces and they have the best record of the three where indigenous systems are concerned.

“Naval fleet to be bolstered
Kochi: As many as 27 ships including an aircraft carrier will be ready in the next five years and orders will be placed for another 32 ships to bolster the Indian Navy’s strength, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Arun Prakash said here today.
‘We have already placed orders for 27 ships including six submarines and one aircraft carrier in the Indian docks. They will be ready in four to five years,’ he told reporters.
‘The Government has cleared purchase of another 32 ships and we will place orders now. We will place orders to Indian manufacturers and only if it is so needed, we will depend on foreign countries. In the next 10 to 15 years, the fleet depletion will thus be fully made up,’ Admiral Arun Prakash said.”

that’s the difference between india and china.
india talks, talks big….and usually not much gets done.
china just works hard in steps to achieve goals. they just do it.

just find a photo about the IN and PLAN ships are in joint exercise.

Instead of x vs y … here is something more positive to discuss :
India-China naval exercises
India and China have begun a rare joint naval exercise on Monday in the waters off coastal Kochi city, reflecting a growing thaw in bilateral military ties despite an unsettled border dispute between the two countries.
Chinese missile destroyers Shenzhen and supply ship Weishanhu will conduct drills with Indian warships, the second such exercise between the two countries.
However, this is for the first time Chinese forces will take part in a joint exercise in the Indian territory. The previous first joint naval exercise was conducted two years ago off Shanghai.
Relations between the nuclear powers have been steadily if slowly improving, and their rapid emergence as economic superpowers forms a strong foundation for greater cooperation.
But there is still a long way to go and an end to the border issue could still be years off, although both sides appear to be moving toward accepting the status quo along their frontier.
China also agreed to back India’s bid for a U.N. Security Council seat and Wen urged greater cooperation between the two countries at multilateral bodies such as the World Trade Organization

Here’s a brief I came across from Kanwa.
ASPECTS ON CHINA’S TWO TYPES OF “AEGIS” DDGS
Western/Russian battleship designers and Western naval affairs observers tend to believe that the design concepts of 052C “Chinese Aegis” DDG and 051C “Chinese-Russian Aegis” DDG are very impressive. Kanwa managed to confirm in Shanghai that 052C was fitted with a very powerful active phased array radar. Most Western naval affairs observers claim that Ukraine transferred to China some of the ship-borne active phased array radar technologies.

wonderful the kids are at it again anyway
The exact number is the big 3
No thread has to be like that its the pople who make it like that. That you said these hings will happen you are thinking what to say already?
Why cant people just post numbers?
the designation of vessels for china and india are different, what PLAN classifies as frigate (jiangwei’s) are considered corvette’s by the IN and vessels like Luda are considered more of frigate than a destroyer. IN does have close to 11 large surface combatants under various phases of construction.
By: Arabella-Cox - 6th January 2006 at 01:26
Pointless thread by someone with an obvious agenda. Its hard enough to get info on the ships the chinese have now let alone the ones they will have in ten years time.
Good call, lawrence. If I see another “X vrs Y – who will win?” thread I think I’m going to scream………..
By: big brush - 6th January 2006 at 00:58
Any pics on the 052B/C and the 054?

just as somebody saying, this kind of thread is senseless. we just don’t get enough imformation about the PLAN.

India has built several destroyers.
The exact number is the big 3
This thread will most surely result in another one of those scintilating flame wars charcterised by personal attacks, trolls, debates about poverty, communism, racist slurs, monkeys from down under and what not.

Such threads do nothing but give its flamehappy participants cheap thrills.
Mr.Moderators, tear down this thread (and all other silly x v/s y threads)

But thats the whole point isnt it? There is very little info on Chinese ships. Let’s see if anyone can throw any light on the new ones they are building.
Aside form the 4 newly built 052B/C destroyers and the 2 054 frigates nothing much appears to be happening. Jiangnan SY are relocating out of the Bund in shanghai to make room for the 2010 expo.
The only new developements are the recent deliveries of foreign purchase
BTW the first 956EM Sovremenny is handed over in Dec. Out of the 8 Kilo636 purchased 7 have been delivered.
The 2 unfinished 051Cs with the rif M system and what looks like the tombstone radar on the back built in Dalian SY.
