Three lifeboats and an RAF rescue helicopter are searching off the coast of north west Wales after reports a light aircraft has crashed.
The crews are looking in the sea near Bardsey Island at the northern end of Cardigan Bay.
Coastguards have said several reports were received, although no aircraft has been reported missing.
Pwllheli, Porthdinllaen and Abersoch lifeboats are involved in the hunt.
They have been joined by a Sea King helicopter based at RAF Valley in Anglesey.
Holyhead Coastguards confirmed they are searching the sea near Bardsey Island after receiving reports that a light aircraft crashed into the sea.
A spokesperson for Holyhead Coastguard said light aircraft did not always have to report their flight plans.
He said there have been reports of light aircraft flying in the area.
But he added that, as the water is choppy, a low-flying aircraft could look as it was crashing into the sea to an onlooker.
