Plane spotter killed by plane in St. Barths

‘An American tourist taking photos of airplanes was struck and killed by a departing aircraft at the St. Barthelemy airport in Guadeloupe Wednesday. The photographer was reportedly standing on the beach area at the departure end of runway 10 when he was struck in the head by the landing gear of a Tropical Airlines plane which had rolled abnormally long during its takeoff. The 40 year old man was airlifted University hospital Point-with-Pitre/Abymes where he later died.’

Well, the local attraction is seeing how the small Twin Otters simply come to the runway almost doing the spotters hair 😮

I think it is a mistake to assume he is a plane spotter because he was taking a picture of an aircraft. He would appear to be a tourist first, a photographer second and maybe a ‘spotter’. Whatever his vocation, it is still sad, so be careful out there.

It never hurts to duck!

That’s what I did when I (helped) photographed Mark12’s avatar.

RIP to the photographer….& condolences to his family and friends.
