BAe 146
Although I have never flown on the aircraft, i am a big fan of the BAe 146. I would have flown on it mind if BE hadn’t changed their LCY/ABZ flights from a 146 to a DH8 (-100 Series no less!!) 3 months after I book the flight but only two weeks before the trip – and yes, I did book just to fly the 146. Gutted I was!!
Oh yeah. The icing on the cake? Not only was I forced to fly on a DH8-100 but we had an aborted take-off at ABZ on the return….. and then the sector took 1hr 50 mins x(
Anyway, my favourtie ‘flown-on’ aircraft is the Airbus A319.
Bloody lovely stuff that machine.

RE: planes
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-02-03 AT 01:05 PM (GMT)]Favourite A/c based on what?
Fast Jet: Hunter (for beautiful looks)
Vintage Military: Spitfire (for looks); Mosquito (for Performance); Beaufighter (for just shear brute strength and ability)
Commercial: DC3/C47 (for looks); B777 for pax and flight deck
To fly: Jestream J41 (in my experience only – commercial jets are all well and good but not so fun to “fly”!) e.g. Cat II approach into MAN last night in an EMB-145 Barbie Jet is nowhere near as fun as a visual approach onto 27/09 at Jersey in a J41 behind the BBMF Lanc on a run-in break (Jersey airshow Aug. 2000)!

Batbay,
Yes I heard about BNA recommencing the Trislander program. It is definitely fabulous news and apparently they currently have quite high levels of interest in the aircraft, which BNA hope will become orders while undertaking a world tour with a demonstrator.

RE: planes
I’m with Saab 2000 on this one. 777 because it’s majestic, I love travelling on it, and the TV series on its design and build was so interesting – especially the part where the Boeing worker stuck the first two pieces together! The Trislander because day to day I see, and hear, more of these aircraft than any other.
And in my local paper today, news that Britten-Norman have re-started manufacture with a demonstrator in build, and plans for a diesel engined version.

Has to be the A340-600 for me…..Jury still out on the A318 personally think it looks like a Dinky model.
Cheers Paul.

RE: Fokker
The appearance of the 777 is very exquisite and sophisticated so it would definitely be in my top 5. My favourite- it would be no other than the mighty Britten Norman Trislander, appalling looks yet such character.

I still like the Fokker 100 the best. Better looking then all the others, don’t know why must be because I’m biased :+ .

My all time fav. has to be the B777….absolute class!

RE: planes
Mines has to be the 747-400 or the MD11. I would have went for the normal DC10 and 747-300 but I like the winglets on the others

RE: planes
Its not about thier looks – there is nothing good about them when travelling on them – they are unpressurised and fly at 8,000 ft which I think can be a little uncomfortable and they are also noisy and a few people I know have said how bad they were when Jersey uropean/British European/Flybe used to use them for many Exeter flights. Thats proberly why Flybe are not too busy at Exeter, because people have been put off for life, even though nice little dash 8-Q300s are now used.

RE: planes
I really don’t see a problem with the Shorts 330 or 360, they’re both past their sell-by dates now but they look fine and do the job.
Technically, in the real world, an aircraft’s specifications and what it can do are more important than it’s looks!
That’s my view anyway — this is coming from someone who has not yet and probably never will step inside any Shorts aircraft.
