No flying, but a really nice Holiday greeting from Kermit Weeks and his crew at Fantasy of Flight. Cool snow scenes with some of his planes. Nice touch for the season.

Did you dig up any Lightnings on that glacier… Rumour has it several belly landed during the war….. They were near a pine tree apparently.

A little side trip to Mount Cook on the drive down to the Wanaka airshow in 2006.

Here’s the best I can do….
A Boeing 40 taxi trial shortly before its first post-restoration flight in 2007.
Yes, it’s cold in an open cockpit biplane here in the winter. The year before I went up in a Stearman 4DM…and it was very chilly.

You sorted with anything? Was going round to say bye, but most had gone home, have tried to get a couple in with a company I know.

Now that’s a sight never to be repeated…. best company I ever worked for

Kiwi
That Hawk in post 18 doesn’t have a Kiwi roundel, at least not a proper one, because the feet should be towards the fuselage. Looks more likely that some of the red has peeled off of a normal RAF one.
With my anorak off again (very appropriate in the circumstances), a very Merry Christmas to one and all. Wish I had some snowy aeroplane pictures to accompany that thought!

Here’s a little video from Goose Bay Canada circa 1962 shot by my Father-in Law, looks ruddy cold! The Vulcan was sent out there to deliver a spare starter motor for the Valiant XD825 which had gone tech!
Lot’s of other interesting aircraft on view,
Cheers
Tim
