Today i managed to go to the planes of fame in chino for the first time in about 4 years and all i can say is god how the place has changed for the better i think.
I have posted some of the pics below but they were taken with my mobile as my girlfriend never gave me mine back so sorry for the quality.
Also further to a query in an earlier post the Boeing B50 lucky lady 2 has apparently been put in the on site boneyard until she gets her wings but this wont be for a few years.

I remember seeing the Zero in the OFMC hangar back in ’98 on my first visit.

Yes it is a replica zero that will be a flyer it will go with the other (genuine) zero they already have, but will have a pratt & whitney unit installed where the other has the only genuine flying sakai engine in it.

I had the pleasure of corresponding with Steve over e-mails a few years ago – a thoroughly nice guy, and always able to answer questions. Yet to meet him in the flesh, though, although managed to see him flying TFC’s P-39 in 2004!

Planes of Fame is a great place…nice people. America’s version of Duxford…when it comes to warbird flying anyway.
While doing some helicopter flying out of Chino I was introduced to Steve Hinton. I was half expecing some “Hi…I’m a stunt pilot” type, but he was a very nice guy.
Also, I can’t say enough about the folks at the Yanks Collection, they’ve let me wander around several times…and I had a chance to talk to the guy rebuilding the “N” Thunderbolt.
A great place.
