G-DAKK actually took part in both the D-Day and Arnham drops when it was in active service – it still has a small patch or 2 from where it was his by stray bullets.
It is currently at Lee-on-Solent (HMS Daedalus)

N47FK is currently with the Aviadrome in Lelystadt, Holland and has been used for numerous parachute drops in the last couple of years.

G-AMRA (Dakota from Band of Brothers) can still be seen flying with Air Atlantique Classic Flight, in fact, members of the public can buy tickets for a ride 🙂

And I can confirm that it is a fantastic experience as well!

I think the Harvards were from the Dutch air force.

The best information available on the making of ” A Bridge Too Far” is the copy of “After the Battle” magazine which contains a feature on the making of the film. A copy of this (as a back issue) may still be available.

I recall that eleven C 47s were used in “A Bridge Too Far” which included examples from Israel,Finland,Denmark and even one from Uganda.

Spitfire IX MH434 was used (piloted by Neil Williams ) and a number of AT-6s (four I think) were used to represent Typhoons,Thunderbolts and Fw 190s though the “190s” didn’t make it to the final cut of the film.

The C-47s used in Band of Brothers were:

N147DC – Aces High (USA) Ltd
N47FK – Dakota Club
G-DAKK – South Coast Airways
G-AMRA – Air Atlantique

Hope this helps.

Finnish AF supplied three or four Dakotas for ABTF, and I believe Danish AF also provided some.
