Yoooo guys,
Before I start I did a search btw but couldn’t find the answers I was looking for.
Planning a trip to manchster from here in biiiiiirmingham on the 30th december with a mate. We’re getting the train to picaddily where we get a train to the airport station, which is fine.
We want to go to the AVP and the 06r/l runway ends.
1. As I understand it, we get the 201 bus service, (do we catch it from the same airport train station?) to the avp, (does it drop us directly at the AVP or do we have to get off somewhere before, don’t want to miss out stop).
2. Now from here, following the ringway site it says:
By Road
From the Aviation Viewing Park. Turn left and head towards the runway tunnels. Drive under both tunnels and turn left at the roundabout. Park near the Moat House Hotel. The rest is on foot.
On Foot
Cross the road and walk up the steps up the banking. Follow the path past the new fire station, drop down the valley, cross the footbridge over the River Bollin. From here photos of aircraft rotating on Runway 24L or touching down on Runway 06R can be taken with ease.
Are these the only directions I need because I read a post on here where someone got lost!!! Also does anyone know how long the walk is because after travelling times, we won’t have much time in manchester 🙁
Any replies are GREATLY appreciative, as never been anywhere near manchester airport this is rather confusing to me 🙂
Thank jooooooo 😀

Sorry to bump this, have one quick last question. Is the airport bus station, the same place as the train station, or is it outside terminal 1 depatures?
Thanks guys 🙂

I’m no good at remembering bus numbers! I stand corrected ;).

Thanks for all the replies guys!
So basically, we’ll forget about runway ends then till next visit when hopefully one of us will be driving by then! 😉
So I get the 200, which will take me -directly- to the AVP? I don’t need to worry about looking for any cargo buildings or owt? 🙂

The 201 drops you off at the Cargo Centre. From there you have about a ten minute walk to the AVP.
Not quite, my ruddy-haired Bradfordian pal………….. 😉
There’s no such animal as the 201 any more. The 200 runs directly between the Airport Bus Station and the AVP, but at weekends only.
The other public transport details on Ringway Reports are also in need of an update. (Hint hint hint…. 😉 )
The 19 used to run between the Airport Bus Station and the Cargo Centre, but does so no longer.
However, the good news is that the 18 and 20 both run between the Airport Bus Station and the Cargo Centre.
Regarding the South Side spots, if you’re going to be on foot and short of time then quite frankly I’d forget all about them – especially the spot between the runways where a long, hilly (and probably very muddy) walk is unavoidable.

Hmm I thought it was the 201 to the AVP at weekends and the 19’s to the cargo centre… Please say it’s not changed AGAIN! 🙁

You will find it virtually impossible to get to the second spot on foot, especially if you have limited time. I would guess it must be at least an hours walk from the AVP.
