Please adjust your switches before leaving…

Research takes me into some funny places (dont ask!) and I’ve met some wonderful people (and some REALLY bad so-called ‘authors’ – but that’s another story) Recently I came across this little gem as told to the late Chris Wren by Peter Bugge and John Cunningham who I always found to be a complete gentleman, but one with a very dry sense of humour… The tale deserves re-telling!

It seems that after some early runway taxi-runs in the DH.121 during September 1961 they taxied back to the ‘angar at ‘atfield and then sat there switching off everything. Before leaving the now almost silent flight deck they both took one final look around and saw that the engine instruments were still reading. Well if they will put the engines right at the back… so silent, so smooth!

Anyone got any more like this?

“That thou doest, do thou swithe.”
– Wyclif (John xiii. 27).

Edit: You corrected it already.:D
