RE: Please be honest.

I’ve been pretty slack and only found this thread today, so my apologies for the very late submission of this memo.

Australian, and fiercely proud of the fact. (I reckon I’ve made that pretty obvious in my various threads, and my name gives me away too)
50 last April. My father, who was British served with the Royal Navy (his MTB stuck a mine in the Channel and sank on D-day and my grandfather served with the AIF in New Guinea against the Japanese from 43-45. I have their service medals mounted and framed, hung on the wall above me as I type.

I think their experiences fostered a deep fascination with all things relating to World War 2, but at the age of 10, I discovered aeroplanes from that period and the interest has never waned. A true love affair over 40 years…

RE: Please be honest.

Thanks Tomel.
Just an observation, but if more of the countries in your region where democratic (western style or not) maybe they would be able to put more food on the table. Seems to me there is a cause and effect relationship there.

The reason I asked this question in the first place was you seem to be in agreement with those here who frequently get on anti-American kicks, so its good to see that you recognise that your region of the world has problems which are caused local attitudes and behavour rather than blaming the US.

RE: Please be honest.

Malaysia is a very unique country if we look from the govermental point of view.YES Malaysia is a very much democratic country. But ofcourse the level of freedom you got not as much as those in the US/EU.Still most Malaysian are very happy to live here cause we are the most ‘liberal’nation in the region yet can achieved an economic wonders.Thailand eg-has a very strong control over the media or the monarch. You cannot simply write anything about the monarch/govt-THE ECONOMIST- magazine being the latest to faced Thai govt action the wrote something on the govt alleged corruption.Singapore has the most tight control on media in the region. There is virtually no oppossition voice in the parliment.Their sole opp.leaders has been put under variuos pressures by the govt.Indonesia and Philipine should be on the upper scale-in terms of democracy BUT they are the one of the poorest nation in the region. What is the point in having a western style democracy-if that same democracy cannot put food in your mouth? In Malaysia we do have a general election once in every 5 years and 2 states presently govern by the oppossition parties. For me that is more than democracy. It just that Malaysia safeguard its military might info seriuosly.Thats all.

Yes… really Kiwi… I’ve got full frontal “see through Bikini” shots of Xena somewhere to prove it too… (She used to do a “holiday” type program here when her hair was brown and not black… in at least one program she wore a lime green one piece swimsuit that left nothing to the imagination when she got out of the water… )

RE: Please be honest.

Yeah, Belgium has always been the place to solve problems. Germany and France at war? Hell no, we are not going to ruin our countries. Let’s have our fights in Belgium :-). And those little riots, well, today we all feel Belgian again (footbal). Monday, one we’ll lose from Brazil, these riots will start again }>.

Anyway, I support the dutch, don’t worry (though ethnically I’m more french).

Australian, born in Malaysia (of Chinese ethnicity), migrated to Australia when I was 18 months old, so not much Malaysian/Chinese in me :).

RE: Please be honest.

It’s quite obvious I’m sure that I am an American. I am 18 years old (19 in a few months) and I’m planning to join the U.S. Air Force through the ROTC program and attempt to get a pilot slot. I intend to work very hard for it, and I hope I will have a good shot at it. As you can see, I’m proud to be American and I want to serve my country all the while living my dream.

RE: Please be honest.

Thank you Snowman…

Me being American would be like Elp and Tom being the marketing team for Mig-29s in the overseas sales department…

Sorry… I should have used }>… (I thought I did but it seems I didn’t).

RE: Please be honest.

Hand87_5, I think we can safely say that Gary was joking about being American.

Geforce, you can laugh about France and Holland’s performances this year, but I reckon that if we are talking football pedigree, The Netherlands and France have a rather more prestigious history than Belgium. And we are not just talking trophies there: I think the best Holland teams of the past have a special place in most football fans’ hearts.

Indian – Born and Bred and I drive as crazily as one.

However, by religion I am a Parsi or Zorastrian( not that I am religious). We are originally from Iran and left that country in about 700 AD as rufugees and settled in India. I ( other crazy family members I mean ) have traced our family back to around 400 AD in Iran. Interestingly even today I have relatives in Iran and Pakistan.

Oh that makes all alright in your beautiful little country. I almost regret having made you a separate country :-). But you, my friend, have all those nice little riots in all those little towns which have on one side Dutch speaking good fellow country men and on the other side French speaking ************ and ***********, the ***************** and ************* but **************** in conclusion *************. (Jerry Springer has got something to learn on this stages).
Just kidding of course.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-06-02 AT 05:22 PM (GMT)]Born 28th September 1987 in Vale,Guernsey,Channel Islands. I am English (or British if you like) and very proud of that.I haven’t been entirely truthful about my age I think, may of said a couple of times that I was 15 or 16 but i’m actually 14 which makes me te youngest on the boards 😮 But i’m actually quite mature for my age (well so teachers tell me :7 )I guess I did it just so I would be taken more seriously.Nothing major but I thought I would tell you to show that I have nothing to hide. 🙂
