Please help this new spotter

Hi, I have just started taking pictures of aircraft as a hobby and these are some of my very first attempts. Please critique them and give advice on how I can improve. Camera handling tips, editing tips, other tricks of the trade, etc. Thanks.

BTW, these were taken from the parking lot of the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum near IAD.

Obviously some were taken inside the museum…

Well I’m biased, Victor, but I particularly enjoyed the second and third one!

As a picture person I disapprove of the second Virgin shot as it has a big feckin lamp post in it. (lol) 😀

The other shots aren’t bad, looks as if you’ve cropped them a bit too much or you’ve got a low pixel count with too much gain and or a low quality mode setting on the camera. Have you adjusted the gamma any ? they look a little flat and in need of contrast. Over doing the gamma can show up the pixels/grain as well

Other than those minor technical issues I’d say well done on your first aviation shoots.

Tell me about the camera and I can be more specific. 🙂

I like them! They do have abit of grain in them, most of mine have grain in them! The most important thing is the get the whole aircraft in unless you are aiming to get one particular part of the aircraft!

You have some nice shots there, what camera are you using? There is a bit of grain in them, which could be suggested by a low pixel capability, high ISO in the dark weather or digital zoom. Or a combination of any, and many other factors!
