Wombat – short, sweet, and sooooo typically Aussie.

Besides, it’s easy to type in. I feel sorry for Hauptsturmfuhrer!

RE: Log-in names

Mongu is a small town in North Western Zambia.

I saw my first Leopard kill (it was eating a kudu in a tree, I was attracted to it by the sniffing nose and whining of a hyena) there.

I also remember it was a pig of a place to get to. There were 2 flight a week to Lusaka, using either Cessna Centurions or Piper Aztecs.

RE: Log-in names

Ference is my real name, I hardly ever use nicks. Ference is Magyar (=Hungarian), derived from Saint Francis (Fransiscus). So it is the same name as the Dutch Frans or German Franz. It means (is used synonymously (sp.?) as) friend of animals.

Best regards,

Ference.

For some reason Sauron was the name that I thought of when I joined the forum so I used it. My name is Ian.

RE: Log-in names

Any person inflicted with the surname Jones is guaranteed of two things. First is that no-one will ever find your number in the phone-book.

The second, and appropriate one, is that if you join any armed force in any country in the English speaking world (AFAIK!) you get christened “Jonesy”.

I got used to it, missed it a little after I left and it seemed to fit here.

RE: Please share with us -the meaning of your logi

I’m disappointed. I thought it had something to do with the old Curtiss fighter of that name 🙂 IMHO a much underestimated airplane.

My name is George and I’m a specialist in Russian aviation history – so…

RE: Log-in names

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-05-02 AT 11:01 PM (GMT)]When you start playing Counter Strike (or any other online game) you want a handle that ideally is daft, but neutral. Show me somebody with below-average skills going by a name like “God” or “Killfrenzy” or some such, and I’ll show you a major ass-kicking waiting to happen, as everybody gangs up on The Guy who Sucks But Has a Really Cool Name. I chose the name JimmyRiddles. I thought that this was a clever play on words; this was a serious mistake, but one that took me many long, sad months to realise.
Being a shiftless lazy sod, I turned to www.wuname.com for inspiration. Bang! Out came Radiophonic Oddity. Busted down to RadiO, it served me well in my battles against the SAS and GSG-9 on the net and I can’t be bothered to think of a new username. So I’m RadiO everywhere.

RE: Log-in names

This was the first forum I joined when I started to use the internet. (Really a bit of a technophobe). Anyway, I was a bit confused, (quite normal for me,) when I decided to join and it was the only thing I could think of – kev, which is short for kevin and the 35 is my door number not my age! (I’m much older than that.)

Mixtecs are a native group of mexico that mostly live around the state of Oaxaca, where Ive lived for quite a while in the past. I think it sounds “techy” for this forum while still having a personal reminisence for myself. My real name is Brad.

RE: Log-in names

Well, my name is Frank von Wachtendonck. Frank was already taken, so, I had to take something else. And as I already had frankvw as login for my first e-mail account, I sticked at it (I’m not very imaginative when it comes to usernames..)

Yeah, this topic looks vaguely familiar…

T5 = Terminal 5, the new terminal soon to be constructed at London’s Heathrow keeping it as the world’s busiest international airport.

seahawk, started when I visited non aviation related forums, but I wanted to use an aviation related nickname. And names like Falcon or Eagle are mostly taken so seahawk was it.

I stayed with it from then on.

DJCross was a dear friend recently deceased due to cancer. He was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne, field service representative on the USS Kennedy during it’s ’75 Med criuse with the then new S-3A and F-14A, modification crew lead for the P-3C Harpoon upgrade at Alameda, and field service during F-117A testing.

Saab 2000 is a civilian aircraft, not my favourite aircraft but I didn’t really think I would be on the boards that long so I jus put down any old name.I kind of regret that now! x(
