Here’s a sequence of pics of a Polar Air Cargo 747 at PIK, a couple of shots of its arrival from the US with a couple of other visitors thrown in and then the elevator like departure to AMS 😮

I’m not surprised it doesn’t climb very well, it’s only got 4 hairdryers 🙂
Scott
ha ha ha ha!
Or to coin a phrase from Wysiwyg “Its a plane with 5 apu’s” (he said it in reference to the BAe 146… but I think it fits the A343 just the same)
LOL!

It might not be as powerful as others but has enough power to do its job, which I’d imagine it’s what matters.
I experienced an aborted landing on a Virgin A343 and I can assure you that we were pinned to our seats by the amazing surge in power and climbing angle the plane achieved.
Which was at the end of a flight where the plane was as near to empty as it would get no doubt 😉
No comparison to take off at the beginning of a flight.

uhm…that wouldn’t be angle of attack…just a steep climb angle.
Nitpicking…I know!!!Impressive all the same!!
I think it is pretty amazing to see the differences between the A340-300 and the 757s taking off from down here…the Boeings really climbs fast compared to the bus.
The A340-300 has a bit of a reputation for shallow climbs.
I’ve heard many jest that the only way the A340-300 can climb is using the curvature of the earth 😀 lol
I read somewhere that the CEO of Air Canada has publicly said “The A340-300 is a nice aircraft, but it lacks power and range”
Whether any of it is true I don’t know.
No doubt wysiwyg will chip in now with a retort 😉

Great shots there. I like the take-off sequence ones.
