Police Discover Car Bomb in Times Square

New York Times

😮 This was a close one, and I hope they give the keys to the city to the guy who discovered it.

“The gentleman concerned” has been charged and in view of what he appears to have told the police and his movements over the previous 6 months it will be revealing to see whether or not he was working on his own.

Hmm… I’d like to have seen you stand next to the car and call it pathetic had that little lot actually gone up. 😉

A bloke with a bunch of fireworks, gas bottles, petrol and some fertiliser. Pathetic. Even as a kid I could make bombs that actually worked. Any farm around here probably has those ingredients in the shed.

All the security checks in the world can’t prevent a nutter with common or garden substances from trying to make a bomb. All that ‘Security’ does is displace the activity. it doesn’t make us any safer.

It seems that the alleged perpetrator was on a plane taxiing out and the plane was called back to the gate.

The “gentleman” concerned appears to be a US citizen, and claims to have been acting alone.

Yes, these thoughts echoed but now we need to know who, how and why, although the latter will be answered by the first two, I imagine.

Ouch!

Always a hairy situation when you discover a car bomb, especially in a crowded area.

Well done to the sharp eyed person who caught it out and the brave policemen and women who were involved in diffusing it.
