Back in the late 1990s Pat Donovan imported Polikarpov Po-2 c/n 0094 into New Zealand.
This aircraft had originally served as YU-CLJ in Yugoslavia before being exported to the UK as G-BSSY then to the USA as N588NB.
As it arrived in NZ needing a rebuild, I do not think it flew with the UK or USA identities.
The aircraft appeared in taxiiable condition at the Omaka airshow in early 2003 (see photos below), and I have a report of a test flight being carried out at Omaka 15May03 but the allotted registration ZK-POZ was never taken up before the aircraft departed again for the UK later that year.
A search through the forum here reveals some discussion back in 2004 about it going to Shuttleworth as G-BSSY again, but there seems to be no further reports since.
As the aircraft was apparently airworthy on its departure from NZ, it would seem strange that it has faded from sight.
A look at G-INFO reveals nothing past its 1990 allocation to SUSSEX SPRAYING SERVICES.
Anyone know anything further?

Hi Peter,
GINFO mentions Registration:G-BSSY, Issue Date:11/08/2009, RICHARD SHUTTLEWORTH TRUSTEES and there’s an image from 2011 http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?catid=60&pagetype=65&appid=1&mode=reg&fullregmark=BSSY
…and a photo from 2010 http://www.abpic.co.uk/photo/1268823/ and from 2012 http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Airframe/Gallery/0/9/0000009697.jpg

Later report indicates that the Po-2 is LY-ASZ.
This registration does not appear in any of the Lithuanian civil registers that I can find online, so presumably the aircraft has spent some years out of service.

Does any one know where LY-?SZ ( a full registration please) came from, any history would be welcome.

The ex Pat Donovan PO2 is flying with the Shuttleworth Collection.

Surprise seen at Ardmore today, fuselage of a Polikarpov Po-2, complete with engine,
LY on one side of the fin, SZ on the other. Carries fuselage code ’46’, presumably ex-Lithuania.
A quick look inside the rear cockpit shows apparently original eastern block instuments with cryllic lettering.
Any clues as to ID, history, ownerhip and intent?
Would appear to have no connection with Pat Donovan’s Po-2 YU-CLJ / ZK-POZ / G-BSSY

Some pictures of this aircraft are on the SVAS web site,
see here http://www.svasweb.org/news.php page down past the vehicle section news and you can see it, still with the remains of the green paint.

Has the resulting green shade in view some connection to British Petroleum (as in some kind of sponsorship; see background), or is the appearance co-incidental?
Dear me…
Co-incidental I,m afraid.
That’s the Marlborough Aero Club hangar, the BP logo has been on the roof for many years.

I am afraid I do not know the answer to your query… HOWEVER, if anyone manages to suss out the correct owners, I wonder if a discreet PM could be launched to Yours Truly?
The colouration and markings present here are just .. erm… “remarkable”. Has the resulting green shade in view some connection to British Petroleum (as in some kind of sponsorship; see background), or is the appearance co-incidental?
Dear me…
