Polikarpovs in Russia

Can anybody help please with construction numbers for the following?

1-15: RA-0281G (23 red)
1-153: RA-1562G (10 red)
PO2: RA-0130G (1 blue)
PO2: RA-0524G (2 yellow)
PO2: RA-0790G (65 white)

All seen at Zhukovsky on 12 August 2012.

Some may be replicas of course, and so any histories would also be much appreciated. For example, is RA-1562G ex ZK-JJB?

Any help will be much appreciated.

And to be even more anal, the last two “I-153″s are in fact one I-15bis! I-153 has retractable undercarriage and gull top wing, I-15 and I-15bis are fixed-gear but the I-15bis has a straight upper wing as seen here. Jerry Yagen has another example in the US.

White 19 has been quoted as c/n02089 and Red 23 as 1603K.

The Alpine Fighter Collection’s Chaika were ZK-JKN/Red16/cn6316 (now N153RP with Jerry Yagen), JKM/White75/cn7027 (resident in Spain) and JJB/Red10/cn6326. This last one is now RA-1562G 😉

All of the Polikarpovs built by Aviarestoration (e.g. all of these listed above) are somewhat like the currently mooted “data plate special” Spitfire restorations we see, in that the vast majority of the material in the aircraft is of modern manufacture, but that a main identity is associated with an original machine via a specific manufacturer’s Production Number (from a data plate).

I do know some of the main identities associated with the various I-16s which A-R have built, but alas I am not familiar with those for the I-152s and I-153s. However, if one could make contact with whomever now runs what is left of the Alpine Fighter Collection (NZ), they would surely have this information.

As for the various Po-2s (or, you may call them U-2s if you wish)… again, I do not know.

I can’t help with the con numbers, but in the interests of accuracy it is I-15 and I-153 (for ‘Istrebitel’ – ‘Fighter’) and not 1-15, 1-153.

…. and to be really nit-picky, it’s Po-2 (for the designer Polikarpov) not PO-2.

A bit anal, I know – but it helps to get it right.
