Was just looking through this Polish (I think)website and came across this..

Unless it’s already been done elsewhere (without the odd translations that Babelfish can throw up), I can forward it to a friend’s wife as she’s Czech. Luckily, she understands our fascination with aircraft (and thankfully, rallying as well!).

What a ridiculous waste of effort, that wa slife behind the iron curtain though

Um, actually, had it been found anywhere else, then, including ‘the free world’ there’s a good chance it would still have been scrapped. Just about every country with a warbird industry today has recovered aircraft that were scrapped in or after the 60s to their name.

While we might regard them as ‘valuable’ that doesn’t necessarily translate to a general historic value in national terms, or cash to conserve and preserve, or even a place to house it, back then and sometimes now.

Damn I,m living on the wrong continent,and the wrong time..Why would anyone go to the expense of recovering something that large then turn around and scrap it.Probably wouldn,t even break even with the money he sold it for..

Recovered from Lk Mamry, Poland and unfortunately scrapped soon after, what a pity it wasn’t found 40 years later:mad:
