Polish pilot Josef Huk

Hi all,
Anyone know wnything about a Polish pilot by the name of Joseph Huk. It xould be that his first name was spelt slightly differently but the surname is correct. I can’t find anything but would be greatful if anyone can confirm which Squadron he was in.
Cheers

Josef Huk

Hi,

The Flight Engineer you mention, Edward Huk, was my father and he served with 300 Squadron throughout the war. I’m afraid I do not have anything on the Josef Huk you are seeking.

I can confirm that our family are certainly of Polish decent and our name is as it has been for generations and was in no way Anglicised after the war.

It may be worth trying the RAF Personnel Management Centre at RAF Innsworth who should hold records of all who served in the RAF and the Polish Airforce Association in London who have access to PAF records.

Regards,

Steve

It is also possible that the man in question was a pilot during the war under an original Polish name which proved too complicated for the British and he had it abbreviated to Huk after the war. If that’s a family member you’re talking to, is there any chance the family might have any document(s) related to his service? If his service no. could be identified this would make things easier.

Hi Voytech,
I was given the details by a gent I’m on a course with. The chap in question was his father in law. I’m not sure about the spelling of the name but that was how it was spelt to me.
I hadn’t been able to find anything either but it gets a bit embarrassing when he keeps asking me what I’ve managed to find out about him. The Gent died several years ago.
Thanks for your reply

If he was Polish, his first name would be spelt JOZEF. It seems no such man served with the WW2 Polish Air Force. There was a pilot named Jozef Hajduk, and a pilot named Pawel Hur, and a flight engineer named Edward Huk, but no pilot (or any other trade) named Jozef Huk.
However, with this name he could easily be Czech or Slovak.
