For those who would say that flying in the United States is all flying in flat areas and no mountains or challenges to piloting skill, I offer some shots from
our collection of various planes in what would be considered by most ‘challenging terrain’ for even veteran pilots….but DO make up your own mind…

Reminds me of the summer I spent at Witzenhausen on the edge of the Harz mountains. The airfield was halfway up a hill, and the only way out of the surrounding hills was via a pass – so you used to see gliders being towed DOWNWARDS to get through the pass! Quite scary the first few times!

Ambri Airshows
Took my old negatives out of the box and scanned some of them.
Those were the days when one could see almost half of TFC’s fleet at a Swiss airshow. I think the flying must have been quite demanding for the pilots.
The valley at Ambri is just wide enough for the airfield, a highway and a railway line.
Hope you like them
