Today was the first Popham fly-in of the season (the rained-out new year’s day one not counting) and there was a lot of activity. PaulC was there snapping things and selling things on the Solent Aviation Society mini tent and OAG, MRs OAG and OAG minor were there too.
I got a text message to say that another forumite was on the ay so I nipped down and taxied the red thing down to meet her.
Janie arrived in style, in an AN2 that looked great, and it was fun to see her at Popham at last after a few false starts due to weather and brakes.
Neville and Gwen Duke also dropped in and both were looking well. Neville came and had a look round the Rearwin and has promised to come and fly it.
It was a very good day and a very successful fly-in.
The AN2 take off was fun too!

Steve: That was not me! I’d already landed. That was the second trip of the day.
I did fly the Chipmunk over Julie’s place the previous Saturday on the way to Connington.

Hmm, I remember seeing that AN-2 last Sunday… overhead the lakes just to the north of St Neots at about 1830, heading towards Gransden. Didn’t realise it was you. If it had been the Chippie, I’d have told Julie to wave again! 😉

Don’t worry – I won’t give you a “REAL” hiding, just a virtual one!

I now have huge biceps and quadriceps!
I’ll be very careful what I say next time we meet in case I get threatened with a REAL hiding Janie!! (Arnie) 🙂

Cracking day, what ho!
Many thanks to ‘Hank’ Melvyn for letting me sit on the throne of the Vermillionair-o-plane. What a beauty! And that’s just Melvyn.
Many thanks too, to my wonderful captain (who is not a forumite, but will get a copy of this thread), who very generously let me fly (wrestle) the AN2 most of the way from Little Gransden and back. I now have huge biceps and quadriceps! What a wonderful beast to fly. What an exciting cross-wind!
Good to see you OAG & PaulC.

Melvyn / Colin, (nice to see you btw)
here, here – it was an excellent day to start the season off – long may the good weather continue. Lot of interesting visitors but safe to say the AN2 was the star.
