I am looking for information relating to the PORTAL AWARD which I believe was awarded to apprentices at BAC from the early 1960s. The only very short ref. I have found is in Gardner’s book on BAC. Does anyone know how many were issued each year – were separate awards made for each BAC site – what ‘lifespan’ did the award have?
Any information whatsoever about the award would be useful.

The original questioner hasn’t been seen on here for around eight years, of course he might get an e-mail telling him of your response.
Meanwhile, I am sure we’d be interested to know a little about the award, why you received it and what has happened to you since.

Are you still looking for information about the BAC Portal awards? I was awarded a Silver Portal award in 1961 the inaugural year and could give you details of the awards.
