I have a theory that the roof is an aerofoil shape and when the wind is in a SSW direction the airflow over the top of the roof acts like a wing and generates lift. Result is the departure of roof panels due to the hold down mechanism not being designed for loads in that direction. My guess at a solution would be a series for baffles to break up the airflow and reduce the lift.

I believe this roof has been affected before -surely airfield , wind should ring a warning bell.New flashy designs are fine if they work. The cost of shutting the M11 and the A505 until possibly Wednesday must be horrendous.

AA you are correct, it was a bit of a tongue in cheek as the weather for casters keep saying this storm is a one in ten years event.

That Hangar has taken a bit of flak over the years !

This Hangar appears to get wind damage each time we have the 1 in 10 year winds, hopefully that’s it

Don’t you mean the ten in one year winds? If so, I doubt that’s it!

Photos online of the ‘super hangar’ with panels missing from one end, not good.
