My friend has just rung me to say that Sky News are reporting that an aircraft is making an emergency landing at Leeds Bradford, but at present they are unsure of what airline it is?
Can anyone confirm this?

It was not because of the events at LHR that prompted me to post this on here Adam, it was because I did not know anything about it and could not get to a TV easily to see the reports, so I wanted to ask if anyone knew anything about it…but I am sure someone would have posted it on here at some point!
Just thankful that it managed to land safely, as I am sure it would of been a scary experience from the passengers perspective.
I wasn’t having a go at you – afterall, this is an aviation forum, of course – I was having a mini dig at the journalists. I’m wondering if it was the events at LHR that prompted Sky News to report on the landing?

Are we going to have the media report on every emergency landing made by an aircraft just because of what happened at Heathrow?

Come on, Adam. Let’s have a bit of perspective here. A Fokker 100 coming into LBA on one engine is a major event here. Nothing else ever happens at our tiny little airport! 😀

i agree LBA is a quite a sleepy place so a holiday ski flight to land on one engine is quite big news teehee!
not as big as the british airtours tristar that shot off the end of the newly finished ‘lengthened’ runway at LBA about 20 years ago !
that was quite spectacular! (not for the punters though)
also when i worked for BMA we lost 2 viscounts at LBA in landing prangs as the airport was notoriously bad for weather and crosswinds
i think G-AZLT was one that got smashed up?

Looks like our national news dosnt even know where it came from. Innsbruck in germany. I always though it did have a german ring to it lol. Anyway yes to us at LBA this “little” event you call it at Manchetser airport is a major one for us at LBA. Nothing ever happens

Sky News had a huge ‘breaking news’ banner on their front page reporting the emergency at LBA.
Manchester had three full emergencies in one day last week, but that didnt get reported in the news anywhere. Emergency landings happen all the time. Why make something out of this one minor event?
