Was at Wickenby today.
Round the back of the Big old Hangar thats now being refurbished is what look like a Napier sabre Engine. Its been dug up localy and clearly has impact damage to the front with the crank being bent down. It is certainly an H type configuration.
It looks Like some parts ( Covers / indution system ) have been removed, plugs still in it and leads attached to some as well as exhaust stacks ( bent ) on the port side.
Reason I mention this is I was told it going to be weighed in for scrap !!
I would call Cooper Arial Serveys if you are interested in it..

You need to call Thruster Air Services ( Thruster LLP ) or otherwise known as Onesky during normal working hours Monday to Friday.
They are undergoing a big refurbish of the Old hangar and stuff and Porter cabins are being moved all over the place so the phone has more than likely been disconnected for a short while. Keep trying.

They won’t be scrapping the two Centaurus, they are worth a bit – especially if they still have their sleeves in.
Anon.
Called them yesterday and told them not to Scrap it as several people are interested in it.
If anyone is interested in it then call them direct and talk numbers.
Best Regards

Yes, any condition Sabre has more value than scrap and should be treated as valuable to someone, and even at a fair price. Shouldn’t someone be given the chance to own a damaged engine and be proud of it, clean it for viewing sakes even? Perhaps it is an Eagle 22 – even more sought after – a truly big beast. But there was probably never any that were crash landed and damaged. Yes, if it’s a Sabre, then let it be shared and claim the credit for finding it 🙂
