This was taken off pprune:-
Sri Lankan Airways twice weekly to Colombo
Delta to commence daily Los Angeles service
Aeroflot to re-introduce weekly St. Petersburg service.
American Airlines to take over JFK route from British Airways.
BackpackersXpress to commence three-weekly Bangkok/Melbourne route.
FlyBosnia eekly Sarajevo/Mostar service.
British Midland to start Brussels/Paris CDG and Barcelona service (replacing BMIbaby routes transferring to BHX).
Not sure if they r going to happen, but with all the other new routes starting in the winter, it could get v congested at MAN

Interesting rumours none the less; would love to see LAX start up. 🙂
Me too. BA operated the route in the early 90’s with a 763, but only for a year or so.

Don’t forget bmi operated BRU from MAN after Sabena went down. They did it on a 146 (ex Debonair if I remember correctly). There was hardly anyone on it, which is why it was pulled not long after it started.
BRU has always been a big of a dead dog, sometimes the EMA-BRU only goes with 5 or so pax!
Really can’t see them getting back into that one again from MAN.

Wouldnt be THAT surprised to see CDG and BRU back on mainline BMi, Baby seem to struggle on the business routes, and BRU and CDG are both operated by mainline from LBA. Maybe they will stop BCN all together, like they did at EMA, I dont think the flight times are that great from MAN are they?
But of course, all this just rumours, I wont read to much into it.

I thought it was too much of Bull-s**t really. I didn;t believe all of it just thought i’d post it too see wot u’r thoughts were. LAX would be good, but i’d see someone like UA operating it, and they probs won’t.
The Sri Lankan one is probs gonna happen, as its been rumored for years

Delta don’t have a base at LAX for starters. G-BNWH is definately going in for a refurbishment to continue the route, doubt BMI would take over ANY of bmibaby’s routes. Aeroflot I can see happening, but it woul be competing with Transaero I think. Air Bosnia I’m not really sure about. SriLankan have been looking at MAN for a long time so that won’t surprise me if it did start!! I can’t see BackpackersXpress working to be honest!!

I wouldn’t place too much reliance on that, bmi-star. The Pprune posting you refer to was the poster’s first ever post on the site, and they’re quoting an “inside informant”. I’ve heard some of these rumours before – but some are new ones on me.
Elsewhere on the same thread, the same poster makes the somewhat surprising assertion that MAN is trying to discourage “low-cost” operators – which will probably come as a surprise to bmiBaby, Hapag-Lloyd Express, V-Bird, and Air Berlin.
This hardly enhances their credibility, IMHO.

Hmmm; the two I’m interested in there are the daily LAX route and AA taking over from BA?
I thought BA were going to send in the 763 for refurb so it can continue doing the stalwart service on this route?
Interesting rumours none the less; would love to see LAX start up. 🙂
