i believe your good at this sort of thing Kev
a friend of mine has asked me to help her, shes looking for some information on her grandad who is currently in ill health and hasnt long left(the ammount of meds he is on makes it hard for him to speak much or remember things)
his name is Archibald Kenneth Vasey(went by the name of ken) DOB 10-12-31 RAF Medic who signed up instead of doing national service
the information my friend is after is his service number, his squadron and where he was based
unfortunatly i have no more information to go on
EDIT, he served during the Crimean war and continued serving until 55/56
any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers, Scotty

Fantastic find.
Reading backwards do I notice through the pages that he was awarded several commendations while in RAF service.
I hope that his Grandaughters memories of him and the service etc turned out how she wanted them to be.

Scott.
Only just seen this so apologies for the lateness of reply and for the fact that I’m just dashing out now. I’m sorry for your friend’s loss. I doubt I’ll be able to find the information you require but when I get back later I will give you all I have on obtaining his Service Record and checking on whether or not he was entitled to any medals and if so which ones.
Regards,

🙁 sorry to hear of his passing. You may find out more or would need more information for the funeral itself when he is spoken about.
It would be a fitting farewell if any info could be collated and put on here to be read by all.
You don’t need to be a hotshot pilot to have served and be thanked for their service.
