Post-War Halifaxe's

Hi,

I’m very interested in the use of the Halifax post-War.

Does anyone have photos they’d like to share of these aircraft in either civil or military guise?

Anyone have photos of Halifax’s (or would that be Halifaxi) from the Egyptian or Pakistan Air Forces?

What happened to PP336? I think I remember reading about it losing an engine off the wing in flight and having to crash land… If it was somewhere out in the middle of nowhere, it could still be there.

Nice photos.

Here are a couple I bought from the ‘net.

F-BJCR, Ex-PP278 and G-AHVT Anglo-French Distributers Ltd 6/47. Then as F-BCJR Societe Auxiliarie de Navigation Aerienne (SANA) 9/47. Withdrawn from use and stored at Thame 1950, subsequently broken up.

ZS-BTA, Ex-PP336. Apparently it was once owned by His Highness the Maharajah Gaekwar of Baroda and converted to a Halton.

Interesting pictures. What is the story behind the Radlet wreck? Was it mocked up for a film, or a cancelled project?

Radlett 1958

In 1961 I believe this was the very last Halifax structure above water.

And then they scrapped it.

Graham Trant managed to steer the nose to Skyfame and the rest is history.

Alex,

I don’t have access to a scanner at the moment, but there are some good books about the Halifax which also covers the post war periode (The Halifax file is a good example).

Here is a pic of a C Mk VIII

Cheers
