I noted Ch.Tech Stan Pucynski with his distinctive well pulled down beret on the wing tip of the Spitfire in the first sequence.
That beret is seen in images of a number of recoveries of Spitfire ‘incidents’ at this time – SL574, TE476 & SL542. They are all in Vol.II.
He was still wearing the beret when I first met him at RAF Henlow, preparing Spitfires for the Battle of Britain film in 1967/8. 🙂

Another chance to see!!!!
The difference being that from 1940/1961 we were not bombarded with constant repeats of events as we are now, so to be reminded was notable.
Not as today when everything is repeated every ten minutes.

fascinating stuff – it always amazes me how time seems somehow distorted in those immediate post-war years. The announcer said, with hint of amazement, that there are still people who actually remember those dark days in 1940! Thats like talking about the Gulf War of 1991 today!
