Other than myself and JDK, is anyone else having trouble posting photos at the moment. Despite being compressed well below 100 KB I still haven’t been able to get a photo onto the forum over the last 24 hours!
Also can anyone recommend a Negative scanner that will do 2 1/4″ as well as the standard 35mm negs.

Download and try Picasa
It does most of it for you…
You get about 1GB for free.
Once you have scanned, jigged and uploaded in Picasa, copy/paste the HTML code under to “link to this photo”

Hi Jim,
I find the easiest way is to use the Microsoft power tool for the job.
Go here:-
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
and download and install the ‘image resizer’.
Once installed if you right click on your picture/image the fourth option down will be ‘Resize Pictures’. You will be presented with some standard options or custom size. Click on the one you want and a new image file will be created in the same folder, suitably annotated (small, medium, large etc.). The original won’t be touched.
If you find anything quicker and easier I’d be surprised.
Hope this helps,
John

Can anyone tell me how to post colour images (from slides) here? When I try I find that they are too large in terms of kb.
Jim
Hi Jim
I am not a photographer by any stretch so I do it the simplest and (laziest) way for my box brownie snaps!!
I put them into email (outlook express) which reduces the file size.I asked this question a while back ,the answers should be searchable, but the methods used by the pros are more complex and I have stuck with the email method.
Cheers baz

Yes – I should have said ‘Powertoys image re-sizer’, thank you. Are there any other Powertoys worth downloading?

And Hitler was a nice guy. I know what you mean, but what you said…
LOL 😀
It seems ‘Powertoys’ are a Windows XP compatible only 🙁

Oh no!
New threat to aviation preservation. Aircraft cut up to fit on Forums…
Need heritage lottery funding to make computer screens wider methinks.
Gosh, it’s late.

JDK,
How else are you supposed to reduce the size of the image then? Don’t worry, I’ll weld the rest back on tomorrow.
Geoff.
