Potter transports historic replica fighter plane Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6

Potter Group Logistics transported the historic Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 German fighter plane for the Yorkshire Air Museum & Allied Air Forces Memorial.

The replica has been on loan to Gateguards Ltd, the UK’s premier manufacturer of highly-detailed reproductions of historic aircraft in St Mawgan, Cornwall. The Bf 109 has been transported by Potter Group Logistics back to its permanent location at the Museum in Elvington, York.

Potter Group Logistics picked up the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 aeroplane from St Mawgan late on the afternoon of Thursday, 4th October and transported it overnight for delivery to the Museum in York on Friday 5th October.

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 is a replica of the same model that fought during World War Two. One of its infamous pilots was Major (later Colonel) Herman Graf who was an experienced German fighter pilot. He was one of only nine pilots to be awarded the Knights Cross with oak leaves, swords and diamonds.

Hmm… I wonder if the cracks that have appeared in the starboard side of the fuselage, near the cockpit, are due to Potter Group’s careful transporting?

:diablo:

It will be interesting to see if said cracks are reproduced in the fibreglass 109’s that will undoubtedly come onto the market fairly soon…….

My apologies, I thought this might be of interest to any Messerschmitt Bf 109 fans, albeit a replica. And no I don’t have any connection with Potter Transport 🙂

🙂 I think it is but as you can probably see there was a wonder whether it is a blatant bit of advertising.

OP seems to have just copied and pasted the original MHW article hence the company name being oft repeated…

What a waste of money, I’d have happily strapped the fuselage to the roof of my defender and towed the wings on a flatbed for diesel money and a bacon sandwich.

Oh, you bunch of old cynics. Don’t you realise that sticking a tupperware 109 on the back of a lorry is an historically significant event?

As you have mentioned the infamous Potter group transport only(!) 4 times in your post I have a small feeling that you may be connected to the company, might be wrong but my “Inspector Frost guide to detective work for dummies” says I may be on the right track unless Morse comes up with something different.

Nice to know but is this an advert for the transport firm and why is the german pilot “infamous” ?
